Amazon Transportation Specialist I – ROC Overview
Amazon’s Relay Operation Centre (ROC) is hiring Transportation Specialist I in Bengaluru. ROC is the central command centre for Transportation Execution across Amazon’s supply chain network (supporting NA and EU). You will handle real-time issue resolution for inbound and outbound freight, coordinate with carriers, vendors, and Amazon sites, and ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries that directly impact customer experience.
Solid entry-level operations role at Amazon ROC. Best suited for candidates with 0–5 years in customer/operations support who are comfortable with rotational night shifts, basic SQL, and fast-paced issue resolution. Pure coding or pure data-science profiles without operations exposure may not fit well.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with external stakeholders (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers, Shippers, Drivers) and internal teams (Amazon sites, business teams)
- Resolve issues across Inbound (IB) and Outbound (OB) operations – appointment bookings, reschedules, in-transit disruptions, weather impacts, etc.
- Ensure timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to FCs and from FCs to carrier hubs
- Support load scheduling, cancellations, network capacity management, remote gate-houses, and equipment availability
- Research and query internal Amazon tools to take real-time decisions and close issues
- Escalate problems systemically to the right owners and follow through to closure
- Maintain high quality and productivity standards while working under time constraints
- Analyze trends in network exceptions and contribute to process improvements or automation ideas
Eligibility Criteria for Amazon Transportation Specialist I
Must-Have Requirements (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related
- Experience with SQL
- 0–5 years of experience in customer support or operations support
- Ability to work rotational shifts supporting 24×7 operations (NA & EU regions)
- Clear written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working with Amazon internal tools, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Excel (advanced preferred)
- Basic understanding of Logistics / Supply Chain / Transportation
- Ability to analyze data, understand business impact, and take quick decisions
