L&T GenAI Trainee Overview

Larsen & Toubro is hiring GenAI Trainees at its Powai location under the Precision Engineering & Systems IC. This role involves hands-on work in Machine Learning, Generative AI, Computer Vision, and Data Analytics. You will assist in building, training, evaluating, and deploying AI models while working on real enterprise use cases.


Strong entry-level GenAI opportunity at L&T for candidates with BTech/MTech and solid fundamentals in ML, Computer Vision, or Generative AI. Ideal if you have academic projects in PyTorch/TensorFlow, LLMs, or OpenCV. Pure software developers without any AI/ML exposure will not fit this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting, cleansing, preprocessing, and validating structured and unstructured datasets
  • Support design, development, training, and evaluation of machine learning and deep learning models
  • Perform feature engineering, model tuning, validation, testing, and documentation
  • Assist in deploying and monitoring AI/ML models in development and production environments
  • Develop applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal AI models
  • Support prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, and AI-powered chatbot/virtual assistant development
  • Work on computer vision solutions including object detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, and OCR
  • Train and evaluate vision models using OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and YOLO
  • Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), create visualizations, and support data pipelines
  • Integrate AI, Generative AI, and Computer Vision models with web, mobile, and enterprise applications
  • Prepare technical documentation and follow Responsible AI, data privacy, and ethical guidelines
  • Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and product teams in Agile environment

Eligibility Criteria for L&T GenAI Trainee

Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and/or Master of Technology (MTech)
  • 0 – 2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Vision
  • Strong foundation in data preprocessing, model development, and evaluation

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, or YOLO
  • Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, Prompt Engineering, or RAG
  • Experience with image/video analytics, object detection, or OCR
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, EDA, and visualization tools
  • Understanding of Responsible AI and model deployment practices
