Comcast Network Engineer 1 Overview
Comcast is a global leader in media and technology. This Network Engineer 1 role focuses on testing and certifying the company’s Converged Regional Area Network (CRAN) and Commercial network infrastructure. You will execute test plans, validate new hardware/configurations, provide Tier 5 technical support, and ensure network stability before deployment.
This is a good entry-level network engineering role for freshers/final-year students who have strong networking fundamentals and are comfortable with testing, troubleshooting, and rotational shifts (including nights/weekends). Solid opportunity if you want to work with a large global telecom/media company. Skip if you prefer pure software development or are not okay with on-site work and variable shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute test plans for internet protocol network and transport infrastructure
- Test and certify new hardware, configurations, and services before deployment
- Provide technical Tier 5 support for network problems and simulate issues
- Interface with the Network Engineering team to maintain test bed integrity
- Work with vendors on new product releases and bug fixes
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of all tests and certifications
- Perform real-time analysis and support for the Converged Regional Area Network
Eligibility Criteria for Comcast Network Engineer 1
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, IT, or related field
- Strong fundamentals in Networking (TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, OSPF, BGP, etc.)
- Good understanding of network troubleshooting and testing methodologies
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable shifts as required
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
- CCNA / CCNP or equivalent certification (added advantage)
- Hands-on experience with network simulation tools or lab testing
- Basic knowledge of telecom/transport networks
- Prior internship or academic projects in networking
