Akamai Software Engineer Overview
Akamai is hiring Software Engineers for its Edge Technology Engineering team. This role focuses on developing and optimizing the core software that powers Akamai’s massive global CDN — handling massive traffic (80+ Tbps) for live streaming, gaming, IPL, e-commerce, and more. You’ll work on high-performance, large-scale distributed systems using C/C++ with Python/Perl scripting in a Linux environment. Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize high-performance software for Akamai’s global CDN platform
- Work primarily with C/C++ along with Python/Perl for tools and automation
- Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks and technical issues
- Develop automation frameworks and benchmarking tools
- Ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and security of the edge platform
- Collaborate on enhancing web server, caching engine, and streaming capabilities
Eligibility Criteria for Akamai Software Engineer
Must-Have Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in C or C++
- Good knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell)
- Strong understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, and Computer Networks
- Hands-on experience working in Unix/Linux environment
